Red Headed Vulture or Asian King Vulture at Madhav National Park Shivpuri, M.P

This grand Asian King Vulture or Red headed Vulture was sitting at the top of tree in Madhav National Park, Shivpuri. It has grand appearance and has power of attracting every one. It has red head , beautiful red eyes and black curved beak  . Its coat is brown which adds royality to its personality And above all those red claw! it seems  it is wearing red boot to make its look perfect.
Scientifically Known as Sarcogyps calvus) is a scavenger bird and has been declared critically endangered by IUCN (International Union of Conservation of Nature). Their number reduced due to the use of Diclofenac a medacine used to treat livestock.Vulture feeding on these livestock suffered renal failure and death.This drug has been phased out and it seems their number is increasing now.

Activities August 2014 - Breast feeding week, Eye Donation Camp, Food and Nutrition week

Breast Feeding Week Celebration-(5th August 2014)-

 13th August 2014

 Plantation and Eye Donation Camp in Govt Girls Degree College Shivpuri- Samvedna ,Shaktishali Mahila Sangathan , NCC and NSS wing of college participated in this programme. Around 50 trees spesies were planted and students pledged to take care of them till they become strong enough to survived on its own. Students also pledged to donate their eyes under eye donation camp of Dainik Bhaskar.

Shikra (Accipiter)

Shikra  was spotted at Shivpuri,It is a small raptor (26–30 cm long). Shikra (Accipiter badius) is a small bird of prey in the family Accipitridae  .
